I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book!
I would recommend this book to all teachers
Inspirational story that's a MUST for teachers & parentsCivia Tamarkin . . . this is the inspirational story of a woman who started her own school in Chicago and made a difference in the lives of her students . . . it is a MUST READ for anybody interested in education--or, in general, having children succeed in life.
Her thinking makes so much sense . . . for instance, she tells
teachers to not mark papers with wrong answers; instead, tell
students how many they got right.
There were many memorable passages; among them:
[talking to a student] "Very good, James. You're so clever,
but I don't want to see you put your head on the desk. If you are leepy, you should be home. This is a classroom, not a hospital or a hotel. I don't ever want to see any of you napping in your seats or just sitting with your hands folded, doing nothing. This is not a prayer meeting. If I see your hands folded, I'm going to put a Bible in them."
When Tracy rummaged through her lunch sack a half hour before noon, arva reminded, "Don't worry so much about feeding your stomach. Feed your brain first and you'll always find a way to get food for your stomach."
[to a student who was erasing her wrong answer] "No, darling.
Remember, we draw a circle around the error and put the
correct answer above it. We proofread mistakes, we don't
erase them. When you erase a mistake from the paper,
you erase it from your mind, too, and you will make
the same mistake over again."

A Non-Stop, Don't-Drop Book!!! It was, SPELLBINDING!
A well written, introspective inside look of pit trading
A quick and enjoyable read with many excellent insights.

Breathtaking, Interesting Reading...Will You Be Whole?Mr. Ayala, has a way of drawing you deep into the characters as if you are right there while reflecting on your own personal experiences, this is a 'work in progress' book...A work in progress of making yourself WHOLE.
On a spiritual note, after reading the book, it made me reconnect my relationship with GOD and to read my bible; regaining my positive attitude and believing that "God Will Get You Threw This".
In closing, I have to say, thank you Mr. Ayala for a well written, positive book, thank you for Will You Be Made Whole?
Will You Be Made Whole
I have never read a book that has touched me moreThe frequent interweaving of Ben through their lives reminded me of the many times that I would hear the Holy Spirit speaking to me, drawing me to Him, but never fully relinquishing myself to trust Him.
Ayala did a wonderful job of portraying the feelings and pain of the characters' lives and at the same time showing readers that their is no problem or situation in our lives that God cannot bring restoration to if we only trust Him.

Gina, Gina, Gina!!!
Exceptionally powerful, thought provoking and honestHer world is multi-dimensional as she is: a former artist and counselor who found herself in the uniform of a cop. Thankfully, she has lived to tell her story.
Just exactly how big is a gerbil?

Very worthwhile and moving book
Powerful Message - On forgivenss, giving , living and dyingThis book is a must read for anyone who has doubted that there is peace in death. He reconfirms that the lessons most important in life are to continue to give of yourself every day despite the adversities you face. In his illness, through his false accusation and his wonderful rediscovery of a deeper faith in Christ it makes accepting God's plan for you important.
Anyone who has an ill parent or someone close to them should read this book it will give you a much clearer spiritual understanding of illness, death and living every moment under God's plan.
Bernardin's "Presence" remains with us!

A great romantic novel
A definate read
The Best Book I Have Ever Read! The first line in the book, I believe, says more to me, and to others, than any others books could even get close to. "There are friends, I think, we can't imagine living without. People who are sisters to us, or brothers." This book is about two teens, Morgan and Jimmy, who have been best friends since the day they were born. They never thought anything would bring them apart. Nothing could ever damage their friendship because it was just too perfect. Nothing could ever ruin it, that is until the day that Jimmy was killed by a drunk driver.
Morgan thought her life was coming to an end. This is the worst thing that could have ever happened to her, and she just wondered why. Why Jimmy? Why not her? It took her a long, long time to realize that Jimmy was going to be gone and never come back again. Many people tried to reach out and try to help Morgan, but she wouldn't let anyone come too close. She just wanted to isolate herself, and not want to deal with it. She went through a period of time where she wouldn't sleep at night, wouldn't go to school, and thought that she was basically becoming a zombie. But considering the circumstances, her becoming like that was understandable.
Morgan would never forget Jimmy, but she finally realized that it was time to move on, and he would never come back. She knew that if he were up in heaven, looking down upon her, he would be upset seeing her mope like this. So she decides to go back to school, she even makes a new friend, and just decides to move on with her life again, but she will never ever forget Jimmy.

Danielle Steel's " Wings"
The book "Wings" was a wonderful love story!!!
Fantastic book, couldn't put it down

Very good!Sam, with a little help from Jake and Tim (a boy computer genius/hacker), she unravels a complex case which dates back to the Korean War. The case gets worse as it connects to the death of her own father years ago.
I did not think this one would be good. A detective that is able to speak with the dead? Never work! I was wrong! This was an interesting book from the first page. The case gets more complex than I let on. Very good reading here!***
How soon can we expect the movie? The action-packed story weaves together sub-plots involving illegal gambling in high social circles, historic racism in the supposedly integrated US Army in Korea, and police departments' eternal political struggles. And, if that's not enough to hook readers, Sam very reluctantly falls in love with another cop -- one who seems to be out to get her kicked off the force. Tooley's characters are memorable -- even minor ones like the big-breasted blackjack dealer who mesmerizes male gamblers.
This book will leave you wanting to know more -- about bodies that can turn to soap, race relations in the 1950s Army, Sioux medicine women, and especially Sam Casey.
What fun!
Very Highly Recommended.Cindy Penn, Reviewer

Hard Edged, Fast Paced
One Great Mystery! One Dead Preacher, written by Tony Lindsay, is reminiscent of the style of writing that usually comes from Walter Mosley and Valerie Wilson Wesley. Mr. Lindsay has written an interesting and fascinating look into the corruption that can happen even in supposedly "good" organizations. Never a dull moment from page 1, One Dead Preacher is an excellent mystery that's sure to be a hit with the mystery fans.
One Great MysteryTony Lindsay introduces us to David Price a security firm CEO, on a good roll in a [junk] game when a beautiful and enticing woman, aptly named Sugar, comes asking for his help. After hearing she was referred to him by his best friend Ricky, he agrees to give her some of his time and attention. Before the night is over he is blinded by her beauty and sharp mind and has agreed to protect her from her husband, a powerful leader in a religious cult. You can imagine how messy the situation gets when her husband ends up dead and instead of cooling things down it makes it that much hotter.
Mr. Lindsay has the ability to tell a story that will keep your attention until you find out exactly how it all fits together. I was pleasantly surprised with the twists and turns that were throughout the book and I honestly couldn't figure who did what until it was time for me to.
One Dead Preacher is the best mystery that I have read since Walter Mosley's Easy Rawlins series. David Price is to Easy Rawlins as Ricky is to Mouse and they explode on these pages. David Price has definitely entered into my top three favorite security/private detectives along with Easy Rawlins, and Valerie Wilson Wesley's Tamara Hayle. I cannot wait until he brings David back in another book.

Great insights into the cognitive processes of readingYou'll understand why when you read this book. More than any other work I've seen, this book provides insight into how the mind operates during reading and applies this insight to the process of writing. Williams makes explicit the many subtle and not so subtle patterns and principles that govern how the mind comprehends writing. If you've had the experience of writing well--and not so well--but not realized why, this book will help you by revealing the principles of clarity that you've been applying intuitively for years--and those you haven't. This is a demanding but very rewarding book that would be of enormous value not only to writers, but to editors and even casual readers who want to deepen their appreciation of what makes lucid writing what it is. I can't recommend it highly enough.
